Basic Counters
There are many web page counters to be found on the Net and all require you to add code in the HTML
view of your web page. Some are Java and some CGI based. Note many
counters are not very accurate.
In some cases software needs to be loaded onto our server to keep the tally. In other cases the count
is kept elsewhere on the Net with a third party. The benefit of the third party approach is you do not need to
pay for us to test and load software onto our system, but the downside is, unless you are paying the third party
an ongoing fee they can discontinue their service at any time.
If you find a counter you like that requires code to be loaded into the common CGI bin on our server system,
we need to test and load this for you. We charge for testing the counter but do not normally charge for keeping
it in our CGI bin. (When we test it, if it proves to be resource hungry on our server we are unlikely to accept
it and you would need to find an alternative counter)
Easynet also has full monitoring software available.
This gives you an exact indication of how many people have visited your
site, plus how they found you (search engine or direct), what sort of
browser they are using, various other settings on their computer, the IP
address of their ISP - guide to where they are in the world, and many other
parameters. You control which parameters are monitored, and only you see
the results. The results are displayed both numerically and in graphs. We
can quote to add this full monitoring software into your web pages and to
set up the matching software on our servers.
