You can configure WS_FTP to automatically log into Easynet at the click of your mouse. To do so,
follow these steps:
Step 1 Launch WS_FTP by clicking on the relevant program icon.
Step 2 When WS_FTP launches, the Session Properties dialogue box will appear.
If the dialog box isn’t blank, click on the New button to start with a blank dialogue box.
Step 3 Complete the appropriate textboxes with the following details:
Textbox title
Enter these details Profile Name:
Easynet FTP
Host Name/Address:  easy.com.au Host Type:                Leave unchanged (i.e. Automatic detect)
User ID:                   Enter your Easynet username
Password:                 Enter your Easynet password
Account:                   Leave this box blank
There are two toggle boxes adjacent to the textboxes: Anonymous and Save Password.
DO NOT toggle the Anonymous
checkbox, but you can toggle the Save Password checkbox, as this will save you from having to enter your
password each time you wish to upload files. Your completed Session Properties dialogue box will look
something like this:
Step 4 Click on the OK button and WS_FTP will initiate a connection
to the Easynet Web Server. You will see some messages in the dialogue window (which appears immediately
under the Remote System and Local System panes) confirming the process of the connection. When you are connected,
you should see the contents of your Web site account in the right-hand pane (titled Remote Site). The contents
of your Windows directory is displayed in the left-hand pane (titled Local System).
If WS_FTP is unable to connect, the Session Properties dialogue box will be displayed again so that you can
check your settings. Double check that you have entered the details correctly, then click OK again to connect to the
Web Server.
Step 5 Before you can upload your files, you need to display the folder/directory containing your Web site files
in the Local System pane. Use the scroll bar to scroll through the list of files currently displayed in the Local
System pane. At the end of the list will be a list of your hard disks.
Double-click on the appropriate hard disk, then navigate through the directories/folders (by double-clicking on
their names) until the contents of the folder/directory containing your Web files is displayed.
Step 6 To upload a file, click on its name once in the Local System pane to highlight it, then click on the
arrow button pointing to the Remote System pane. The file will then be uploaded. A small dialogue box will appear
to keep you informed of the upload progress.
You can copy a file
from the Web Server to your PC in much the same way. Click once on the relevant file in the Remote System pane to
highlight it, then click on the arrow button pointing to the Local System. Don’t forget to toggle the ‘ASCII’
setting when you are uploading Web page files (i.e. HTM or HTML files) and ‘Binary’ when you are uploading graphic
files (e.g. JPG or GIF).
Step 7 Once you have finished uploading files, click on the Close button and WS_FTP will log out of the Web
Server. |
